New Wave To Produce New Space Ace and Dragon’s Lair Replicades

New Wave Toys is set to release four new cabinets based on Don Bluth’s arcade classics Dragon’s Lair and Space Ace. These include the Dragon’s Lair Overhaul Black Edition, Dragon’s Lair Overhaul Red Edition, Space Ace, and the Cinematronics Factory Space Ace cabinet.
The cabinets range in price from $149 to $169 and should be shipping out during the first quarter of 2023.
The first Replicade Dragon’s Lair machine came out last year after a few delays during the crowdfunding campaign. Since then, New Wave has made some changes, including a new processor for screen mirroring. The cabinets are made from solid wood, feature a rechargeable battery, and are pretty sweet all around. I’ve had my Dragon’s Lair machine for a while, and it makes a great display piece.

New Wave Toys also teased the upcoming Vectorbeam mini aux TV addon. I’ve only seen this feature on one machine at a Chuck E. Cheese in the ’80s. It was a way to let people waiting to play the game easily know how you were progressing without having to crowd around the cabinet. It’s not clear if the TV will be an LCD screen that tries to replicate a CRT or not. Hopefully, we’ll know more soon.
