Spider-Man: Brand New Day just became the fastest film ever to $700 million
Brand New Day crossed $700 million domestically in 13 days, faster than any movie in history. It opened to a record $360 million, has passed $1.8 billion worldwide, and now ranks as the sixth-highest-grossing domestic release ever, with the all-time record still ahead of it.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day reached $700 million at the domestic box office on Wednesday. It got there in 13 days, which no film has ever done faster.
The previous record holders, Star Wars: The Force Awakens and Avengers: Endgame, both needed 16. The Tom Holland sequel has now earned $704.5 million in North America and roughly $1.8 billion worldwide, all in two weekends of release. It opened to $360 million, the biggest debut in history, and hasn’t slowed down since.
Only seven movies have ever crossed $700 million domestically. Brand New Day is the newest, and the quickest.
The pace is the story
Most blockbusters open big and fade. This one has held.
Brand New Day posted the highest-grossing Monday ever at $47 million and the highest Tuesday ever at $42 million, the days when superhero films usually cool. It was the fastest movie to $400 million, then the fastest to $700 million, and it reached $1 billion worldwide in six days.
Right now it’s running about 31% ahead of Spider-Man: No Way Home‘s pace, and No Way Home finished its domestic run at $804.7 million.
That gap between opening strong and holding strong is what separates a big weekend from a historic run. This has been the second kind.
One record left
There’s a single domestic mountain still above it.
The Force Awakens has held the all-time North American record of $936 million since 2015. Brand New Day sits sixth on that list today, and its pace has industry trackers split on how high it lands.
Most projections put $900 million within reach. Whether it clears a full $1 billion domestically, a line only a few films have approached, is the open question of the next few weeks.
For context on Holland: his first three solo films each opened bigger than the last, and together grossed more than $1.53 billion domestically. This one didn’t just continue that climb. It moved the ceiling.
Why it matters past the numbers
A run this size does more than pad Sony and Marvel’s ledger.
It arrives in a year the theatrical business needed a giant, and it’s not alone, Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey is also clearing major marks. Between them, 2026 is running well ahead of last year and is on track to be the strongest box-office year since 2019.
After years of open questions about whether big-screen moviegoing had permanently shrunk, the numbers this summer are answering quietly.
It also complicates the talk about Peter Parker’s future. Holland has said a succession plan is already in motion, but a movie performing like this doesn’t build much pressure to move on.
Brand New Day was meant to be a fresh start for the character. It turned into the biggest opening the medium has ever seen, and it’s still climbing.
