The next GTA 6 trailer is premiering on Netflix, six hours before anyone else can see it
Rockstar will debut “Grand Theft Auto VI: An Extended Look” on Netflix on August 27 at 3 PM ET. It hits YouTube and Rockstar’s site six hours later, giving Netflix subscribers an exclusive first look.
Rockstar Games is dropping the next look at Grand Theft Auto 6 on Netflix first, and everyone else has to wait six hours.
“Grand Theft Auto VI: An Extended Look” premieres on Netflix on Thursday, August 27 at 3 PM ET / 12 PM PT. It then goes up on Rockstar’s official YouTube channel and the GTA 6 website at 9 PM ET the same day.
That gap is the story. Netflix gets a six-hour exclusive window on the biggest game trailer of the year.
Why Netflix, and why “Extended Look”
Two words in that title are doing a lot of work.
Rockstar normally just uploads trailers to YouTube. Putting this one on Netflix first, behind a paywall with a six-hour head start, signals it’s not a 90-second trailer drop. Netflix itself called it a “first-of-its-kind partnership,” and the “Extended Look” framing suggests a longer presentation, likely the first real look at how GTA 6 actually plays.
That matters because the two trailers so far have been all atmosphere and no mechanics. Fans have seen the world and the mood, but nothing about mission structure, on-screen UI, or how protagonists Jason and Lucia actually move through the map. This is the reveal where the game either justifies its long development or raises new questions.
You don’t need Netflix to see it
Here’s the reassuring part for anyone who doesn’t subscribe.
The six-hour window is exclusive, not permanent. When the Extended Look hits Rockstar’s YouTube and website at 9 PM ET, it’s free for everyone. So Netflix subscribers get the early premiere, but nobody’s locked out, you just might have to dodge spoilers for an evening if you’re not paying for the streamer.
For Netflix, the play is obvious: use the most anticipated game reveal in years to pull eyes onto the platform, part of its ongoing push into gaming.
The bigger picture for GTA 6
The trailer lands with the clock ticking toward launch.
GTA 6 is due November 19 on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S, after 13 years in development. Pre-orders opened in June at $79.99 for the standard edition and $99.99 for the ultimate.
The physical version is a code in a box, not a disc.
At launch it’s a single-player experience, set in Vice City in the fictional state of Leonida, following Jason and Lucia after a job goes wrong; Rockstar hasn’t announced an online component for the release version.
The last GTA 6 trailer came out in May 2025, so fans have waited more than a year for this. On August 27, they finally get it, on Netflix at 3, everywhere else at 9. Set an alarm, or set two.
